Originally, they were just supposed to make a little incidental sound, but when the moviemakers and test audiences were blown away by it, they got to do the entire score!<br /><br />Alas, since they were not members of the Composers' Union, they couldn't be listed in the credits as composers of the soundtrack, and were thus ineligible to be considered for the Oscar for Best Score/Soundtrack.
