LA LLORONA / Producciones Bueno - 1960

Hello everbloody, welcome to another Moldie Oldie Monday, here at The Dungeon.

Tonight's featured flick is a well done production from Mexico, it's about the Crying Woman, who was put to death centuries ago, and the curse she tries to fulfill after arriving in the present, and that is, to try and kill the young son of the cursed family after she becomes his nanny...

Mr. Luis Mendoza López composed the music. Luis had a total of 4 composing credits between 1939-60, this was his last movie. When we have titles in a foreign language, Eegah!! usually is heavy on the music with a touch of dialogue, like this one!!

Now it's time to bring in our littlest Dungeon helper, the one and only, he's right over there... You can't see him, but he's there, and he's ready to push that big red 'GO' button and start our Eariffic Earclip for tonight's offering. Here's... LA LLORONA!

The newlyweds move in to their newly inherited casa and then find out about an ancient curse on their family.

In the past, there was a sorceress who had the love of the man of her dreams...

But, she was accused of blasphemy, and sentenced to death. Before she dies, she puts a curse on the family of the accusors.

It wouldn't be much of a story if she didn't show up mysteriously to then become the nanny of the couple's young son, would it?..

The couple doesn't believe the story of the curse.

She looks into the eyes of the person who sentenced her to death so many years ago.

Here, mom hands over her kid to... La llorona!

So, she tosses his ball out into traffic!

This scene will make you squirm, for sure!

She tries to get him to fall out the second story window!.. He actually almost really falls!!

She turns evil as she decides to do away with the boy personally, without all the gimmicks!

But, she can't do it...

You can hear her scream as she disappears out the window, to her doom!

So, everything turned out for the best, good won out over evil once again!

The crescendo you hear at the end of the soundclip is beacause of this cute little kitty. We're pretty sure this is La llorona, back to finish the job...

It looks like Tabonga's newest lil' pal, BOO!

PAJAMA PARTY - Les Baxter - "Pajama Tops, Bikini Bottoms" (1964)

So what else could I follow Pyjama Girls and Sleeping Corpses with except another movie set on the coast, a surf and beach party movie in disguise as a Scientific Fictional "Pajama Party!"

"Pajama Party" is a sci-fi musical comedy beach movie that wiggles and shakes it's way along, with the help of Annette, Tommy Kirk, and whoever else Arkoff and Nicholson could find walking around the studio, to throw into the mix!

Jody McCrea as Big Lunk has the best line early on, when he says, "Hey guys, let's head to the beach for volleyball," and one of the other guys says, "...and leave the girls?" and Big Lunk comes back with, "Heck no, we need Vicki for setter!" Jody was in at least 6 'Beach Party' movies, and a couple of them, "Beach Party," and "Muscle Beach Party" stream for free at IMDB.com! What are you waiting for, there is no reason to worry about stuff like Korea, when we have Beach Party movies streaming 24/7!

Tommy Kirk is Go Go, and he's from outer space, Mars, the planet! Tommy wouldn't play a Martian again until 1967, when he would return as Dop, in the Larry Buchanan stinker, "Mars Needs Women!" Believe it or don't, Tommy's joined here by ulta classic, Elsa"The Bride Of Frankenstein"Lanchester as good ole Aunt Wendy!

A man we've written about many times before, Les Baxter gets credit for the original music, but the songs sung by Annette and Donna Loren are written by Guy Hemric and Jerry Styner, who between the two of them wrote music for all the Beach Party movies, and Guy Hemric also wrote the music for "The Mini-Skirt Mob," and "Wild In The Streets," and was one of the pajama boys in this movie!

Susan Hart is Jilda! Her job is to look hot, and she's very good at it! Director Don Weis likes to juxtaposition Susan's slow and senuous dance style with the manic twisting of the other girls as a sight gag! All the guys would like to do a little juxtaposing with her themselves! Susan was in "The Slime People," and was 'The Ghost' in "The Ghost In The Invisible Bikini!"

Center stage we now have Pajama Girl Toni "Hey Mickey, You're So Fine" Basil, who is still working as a choreographer today!!

One of the weirdest things I have ever witnessed in my life was back in about 1971, in Alaska, after a grueling 3 or 4 hour drive down a potholed gravel and dirt road, Dave and I arrived at the lodge in Mount McKinley Park, and when we went in, the place was like a ghost town, although there were plenty of vehicles in the parking lot, there was nobody around! We surveyed the scene, and eventually found all the people downstairs watching "Beach Party!" It was surreal!

It's time for Donna Loren to sing a song about how nice it is to be young, with the help of The Nooney Rickett 4!! Rough life!! That's the unstoppable Candy Johnson over on the right as Candy!

Susan's back distracting the boy's again!!! You can also see more of Susan Hart and a lot of these other characters in "Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine," where she plays the notorious Robot #11!

Time for every boy's favorite sweetheart dreamgirl Annette Funicello, who was still making Disney movies, so she was asked by Walt Disney if she would not wear a two piece bathing suit, so she could keep her image super squeaky clean! It looks like they chose to shoot Annette against the blue screen, instead of actually going to the beach. The ocean air probably curled her hair!

Tommy Kirk is such a great actor, and what a wild career, just for example, in between Go Go and Dop, Tommy had a close relationship with a monkey, had to deal with crazed giant teenagers, Dr. Goldfoot, and a ghost in an invisible bikini, on top of being given LSD to cure a Mother Goose obsession!

Eric Von Zipper and The Rat Pack multitasking as the bad guys and the extra comedy relief! Harvey Lembeck was Eric Von Zipper and the pack was rounded out with Alan Fife, Andy"Hill Street Blues"Romano, Bob Harvey, Linda Rogers, Alberta Nelson, and Jerry"The Stunt Man"Brutsche!

Aaah! How cute!! You know you wish you were a big stupid looking stuffed animal right about now!!

This little song and dance routine, entitled "Where Did I Go Wrong" was sung by Dorthy Lamour, and was also penned by Guy Hemric and Jerry Styner. That's Toni Basil again doing the dancing! Among the other names of note who appear in "Pajama Party" are Don Rickles, Jesse White, Buster Keaton, and Terri Garr!!! Be there or be square, you don't wanna be a Pajama Party Pooper!

LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE / Star Films S.A. - 1974

Welcome everbloody to Friday Night Drive-In, here at The Dungeon! Tonight we gots a Spanish/Italian flick filmed in England and has a storyline like this... "A cop chases two hippies suspected of a series of Manson family-like murders; unbeknownst to him, the real culprits are the living dead, brought to life with a thirst for human flesh by chemical pesticides being used by area farmers."

This film has 19 AKA's including THE LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE, BREAKFAST AT THE MANCHESTER MORGUE, DON'T OPEN THE WINDOW, INVASION DER ZOMBIES, THE LIVING DEAD and ZUMBI 3, so better watch out for this one!

The oddball music is by Mr. Giuliano Sorgini, who had 10 composing credits between 1974-97, this was his first movie.

Welp, time to bring in our fuzzy lil' Dungeon helper and 6-eyed freek, Ralphie The Tarantula, and he's here to push the big red 'GO' button and start the Eariffic Earclip! So, always remember, and never forget to... LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE!!

In a 1974 horror film, this spectre of doom was an easy target!

But, don't forget about those sneaky deregulated oil companies and their experimnetal systemic pesticides and the such!! In NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, it was a radio-active satellite that crashed in Pennsylvania that caused all the problems.

Uncle Joe, you seem all upset about something!..

I swear, I didn't eat your Boo Berries!! Aaaaaaaaaa!!!..

Great sign for The Old Owl Hotel. One mistake in the film is that owl is spelled 'olw' on the door!!

She looked through one of them black eye telescopes... We'll just call her, Pete!

Wow, what a nice place to...

...Get all clawed up by a freakin' nutso zombie!

I see London!

Yeah, I guess that's one way to use a cross!.. Are zombies atheists?

The film really has some beautiful scenery, especially for foggy old England.

And, you think you're havin' a bad hair day! ...Yeesh!!

From one Zom-Bro to another! "May your fingernails be ever encrusted with human's blood!.. Hey-Yo!"

Looks like this zombie got carried away with his clawing!

I love this shot, it looks like Uncle Creepy working on the air conditioner!

When you finish speaking, you have to say, "over!" ...Over!!

It's... NIGHT OF THE LIVING FUZZ!

A great line from this filck is "The dead don't walk around, except in very bad paperback novels!" By the way, there's Arthur (FANTASTIC VOYAGE) Kennedy...
